Description:

The internal thoracic vein is the anterior drainage vein for the anterior wall of the thorax and upper abdomen. The superior epigastric, anterior intercostals, and musculophrenic veins join it as it ascends lateral to the sternum in the company of its arterial counterpart. It terminates by joining the brachiocephalic vein.
