Description:

The inferior articular processes and articular surfaces arise from the junction of the pedicle and lamina near the base of the transverse process. Just anterior to them is the deep inferior vertebral notch. The anterior facing, oval articular surface is very smooth. This surface articulates with the inferior facet from the subjacent vertebra.
