Description:

The inferior epigastric artery is a branch of the terminal end of the external iliac artery. It ascends medial to the deep inguinal ring between the posterior lamina of the rectus sheath and the rectus abdominis muscle. It has numerous branches that form collateral circuits with branches from the superior epigastric and lower posterior intercostal arteries.
