Description:

The external iliac artery arises as a bifurcation of the common iliac artery anterior to the sacroiliac joint. It arches along the pelvic brim and terminates as the femoral artery as it passes beneath the inguinal ligament to enter the thigh. This is the arterial trunk that supplies blood to almost the entire lower limb.
