Description:

The axillary artery is the segment of the main arterial pathway through the upper limb that passes through the axilla. It begins where the subclavian artery crosses the first rib and it terminates as it crosses the distal margin of the teres major muscle, where it becomes the brachial artery. It gives rise to numerous branches that supply the shoulder and thorax.
