Description:

The pulmonary trunk is the large artery that leaves the right ventricle of the heart. It sits anterior to the aorta as it exits the right ventricle and angles posterior and to the left side. It bifurcates into the right and left pulmonary arteries that carry deoxygenated blood to the respective lungs.
