Description:

This is a section through the liver showing a classic hepatic lobule. At the center of the lobule is the central vein, which drains to the hepatic vein and is surrounded by numerous hepatocytes. At the periphery of the lobule is the portal triad consisting of a branch of the hepatic portal vein, a branch of the hepatic artery, and a small bile duct.
