Description:

The inferior articular process of the axis with its articular facet projects downward from the inferior surface of the lamina near its junction with the transverse process. This process is more dorsal then its superior counterpart. Its articular surface faces inferomedially and receives the articular surface of the superior facet of the third cervical vertebra.
