Histology - Bone

Description:

This is a section of compact bone from the wall of the femoral shaft. Like all compact bone tissue it is characterized by its circular arrangements of osteons, or haversian systems. This arrangement of cells, blood vessels, and extracellular matrix affords this tissue the ability to be incredibly strong and yet have the amazing ability to remodel and change in response to its local strain environment.
