Description:

The greater splanchnic nerve is the largest branch of the sympathetic nerve trunk. It typically arises from the fifth to the ninth sympathetic trunk ganglia, but this may vary. It carries preganglionic sympathetic neurons from the spinal cord to the aorta, celiac ganglion, aorticrenal ganglion, and adrenal gland. It also carries visceral afferent neurons from the abdominal viscera to the spinal cord.
