Supraclavicular nerve

Description:

The supraclavicular nerves are descending cutaneous branches from the cervical plexus. They arise from the ventral rami of cervical spinal nerves C3 and C4. They emerge from beneath the posterior border of the sternocleidomastoid near the midpoint of the muscle. From here they run deep to the platysma and cervical fascia. The nerve splits into three branches - medial, intermediate, and lateral. The branches pierce the platysma just superior to the clavicle and supply the skin of the chest and shoulder from the midline to the lateral side of the shoulder to the level of the second rib.
