Description:
The perpendicular lamina or plate of the ethmoid bone descends below the transverse cribriform plate in the sagittal plane. It is a thin plate of bone that divides the superior portion of the nasal cavity into right and left sides. Its inferior border articulates with the vomer posteriorly and the septal nasal cartilage anteriorly. It forms smooth quadrilateral surfaces that form the upper medial walls of each side of the nasal cavity.
