Oblique head from the bases of the second, third, and fourth metatarsal bones; transverse head from the transverse metatarsophalangeal ligaments of toes 3, 4, and 5

Insertion:
Lateral sesamoid bone and the base of the proximal phalanx of the big toe

Actions:
Adducts the big toe

Nerve supply:
Lateral plantar nerve

Blood supply:
Branches of the posterior tibial artery
