Perineal body, where the muscle converges with other external perineal muscles
Insertion in female:
Attaches to the corpus cavernosum clitoris anterior to the ischiocavernosus
Actions in female:
Compresses the opening to the vagina
Origin in male:
Perineal body, where the muscle converges with other external layer muscles, and the tendinous median raphe
Insertion in male:
Attach onto the corpus spongiosum and onto the corpus cavernosum anterior to the ischiocavernosus; end in a dorsal aponeurosis that wraps around the dorsal vessels of the penis
Actions in male:
Compresses the urethra within the male penis to help with ejaculation
