Description:

The caudate lobe of the liver is the small posterior projecting portion of organ adjacent to the inferior vena cava. It is often included as a part of the right lobe of the liver. However, based on the distribution of blood vessels within the substance of the liver, the caudate lobe is more properly included with the left lobe of the liver.
