Posterior ethmoidal foramen

Description:

This small foramen sits in the suture between the ethmoid bone and frontal bone. The two bones are notched at their edges and when they join they create this small passageway. The posterior ethmoidal nerve leaves the orbit through this foramen to innervate the mucosa of the ethmoid air cells and the sphenoidal sinus.
