Description:

The sphenoidal, or anterolateral, fontanelle is situated on the anterolateral aspect of the fetal and early postnatal skull at the junction of the greater wing of the sphenoid, frontal, and parietal bones. As the bones grow, it disappears about three months after birth and becomes the site of the pterion.
