Description:

The ischial tuberosity is the large posterolateral projection of the ischium just inferior to the lesser sciatic notch. It is the prominent process that contacts the surface when you sit on something. It is the attachment site for the hamstring muscles - the biceps femoris, semitendinosus, and semimembranosus.
