Description:

The auricular surface was so named because its shape resembled that of the human ear. It is situated posterior to the iliac fossa on the sacropelvic surface of the ala. It is a smooth surface neighboring the rough iliac tuberosity. A cartilage covered synovial joint forms between this surface and the sacrum.
