Description:

This rough ridge of bone marks the anterior junction of the neck and shaft of the femur. It courses obliquely from the anterior surface of the greater trochanter to a position just anterior to the lesser trochanter. It is the attachment site for the iliofemoral ligament and the proximal-most fibers of the vastus lateralis and vastus medialis muscles.
