Description:
The bulbs of the vestibule are erectile tissue masses situated deep to the labia minora and bulbospongiosus muscle and they flank the vaginal opening. They are homologous with the bulb of the penis and corpus spongiosum in the male. These connective tissue wrapped erectile bodies are wide at their posterior end where they are in contact with the greater vestibular glands and taper anteriorly where they are connected to one another and to the clitoris by a narrow band of erectile tissue.
