Description:

This fossa is the ditch-like concavity above the spine of the scapula. This forms approximately the upper third of the dorsal surface of the scapula. Filling its concave surface is the supraspinatus muscle. This surface communicates with the infraspinous fossa through the spinoglenoid notch.
