Description:
The spermatic cord is the fibromuscular cord that contains the ductus deferens, testicular artery and vein, and the nerves to the testis and scrotum. It arises as a prolongation of the abdominal wall from the superficial inguinal ring and terminates where it merges with the tissues that surround the testis in the scrotum. Its muscular layer, the cremaster muscle, shortens to raise the testis closer to the body.
