Description:

The hilum of any organ is the entry port of its blood vessels, nerves, and other tubular structures. In the lung, the hilum is the area on its medial aspect where the principal and lobar bronchi, the pulmonary arteries and veins, the bronchial arteries and veins, the lymphatics, and autonomic nerves enter and leave the organ.
