Description:

Left main bronchus
The main or principal bronchi are the initial branches of the trachea that form the root of the bronchial tree that extends into each lung. The left main bronchus is longer and follows a more oblique course than does the right main bronchus. The bronchi, like the trachea, have walls that are reinforced with hyaline cartilage. These cartilaginous walls help keep the lumen of the tubes from collapsing, something that is important for an air passageway.
