Description:

The cricoid cartilage is a complete ring of hyaline cartilage that attaches to the trachea below and the thyroid cartilage above. The two arytenoid cartilages attach to its superior border via two synovial joints. It is narrow anteriorly and broad posteriorly, giving it the appearance of a signet ring.
